Congratulations On Your New, Very Personal Rug, We Hope It Is Perfect!

We’re thrilled that you’ve chosen one of our rugs to enhance your space. To ensure that your new rug remains in pristine condition, we’ve put together some simple guidelines for caring for it once it arrives.

Unpacking

When unwrapping your rug, please exercise caution to avoid damaging it. Most rugs are packaged securely in plastic for safe shipping, so take care when removing the packaging (avoid using knives or scissors that could inadvertently cut the rug). It’s common for rugs to develop minor wrinkles due to being tightly packed during shipping. We recommend laying the rug flat on your floor and allowing any irregularities to naturally dissipate over the next two weeks as the fibers relax.

Vacuuming

Regular vacuuming is key to maintaining the appearance of your rug. We suggest using a suction-only canister vacuum to gently remove dirt and debris. For rugs made of wool or wool-blend materials, avoid using a beater bar or a vacuum with very high suction, as this can damage the fibers.

Cleaning

For rugs made of wool or synthetic materials (excluding sisal, seagrass, and jute), it’s important to follow proper cleaning techniques:

  1. Blot, don’t rub: If a spill occurs, immediately blot up the moisture with a clean white towel. Avoid rubbing, as this can push the stain deeper into the fibers.
  2. Dilute the spot: Dampen a white towel with a touch of hot water and gently blot the affected area to dilute the stain.
  3. Absorb excess moisture: Use a dry towel to absorb any remaining water from the rug.
  4. Repeat as needed: Continue alternating between dampening and blotting with clean towels until the stain disappears.
  5. Professional cleaning: In some cases, professional cleaning may be necessary to fully remove stubborn stains. Ensure that the cleaner understands the construction and fiber content of your rug to avoid any damage.

By following these simple care instructions, you can help preserve the beauty and longevity of your new rug for years to come.
